“The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct.”
I don’t know whether it was my “inner child” trying to get out, or simply a stubborn resistance to the expected responsibilities of being a “grown-up,” but some of my earliest photographs at college were of toys, carefully posed in front of a 5×4 Cambo camera. My interest in tabletop photography naturally led me to the work of David Levinthal and James Casebere—for me the masters of the genre—and my work evolved into more elaborate tabletop sets, often combining 2D and 3D elements to create small-scale narratives that explored the worlds of childhood dreams, nightmares, and events that never happened.
As with all my work, prints are available in a range of sizes (at very reasonable prices!). I’m working on a sales site, but for now, just contact me if you’re interested in buying (or commissioning) any work.
